Basic Life Support (BLS)

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who should take this course?

The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Heartsaver® CPR AED

AHA’s Heartsaver courses are designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

Heartsaver Instructor-led training is conducted in a classroom setting and features group interaction and hands-on coaching and feedback from an AHA Instructor.

Heartsaver blended learning courses include an online portion that can be completed either at work, home, or wherever students have Internet access. Upon successful completion of the online portion, students attend a hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor.

Is AHA Heartsaver CPR AED the right course for me?

Heartsaver CPR AED is geared for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

(If you are a teacher, child-care provider, or simply want to be prepared to rescue someone experiencing a cardiac emergency, we recommend Heartsaver CPR course.)​ There is no prerequisite training or education needed for any of our classes, everyone is welcome.

Required Textbook: The AHA requires each student to have a textbook. The online/hybrid courses include an online electronic text that meets this requirement. Students in the traditional classroom format course will need to buy the text. We have copies available in our online store.
